ALso TC, there were two McCallums. Were they in anyway related?
3 actually JP .. there was Denis from the 20/30s who was Neil's nephew, the Willie McCallum who played in the 1890s was not related.

if you look at the NI tour, you will see that James Kelly played in goal
John Kelly one of our earlier goalies JP
Didn't realise there was another Kelly, TC.

Thought there was 11, 12, maybe 13 players and if needed, that's where you played, because of positions in those days, don't resemble todays formations.

Cheers for that. Is there much known of him? I have a soft spot for keepers, having been one and playing for Celtic North when i was 11 (i was rubbish).

As this fixture took place at the end of our first season, did we have a large pool of players or a reserve team in our first season?
Lots of Kelly's have played for us and as much as 5 of them called John, pic below shows James & John in the same team, dont know much about the goalie except whats on the wiki. in the very early days we were hard pushed to field a full team and if a player was late they started with 10, (which happened often) seemingly James McLaughlin played in almost every position for Celtic before settling as a goalie, another goalie you might be interested in was a Hugh Duff, he played for Cowlairs in the very first game at CP1, he once let in 8 goals (+3 chopped aff) against Dumbarton and thats were "the goalie was duff" saying came from, some say he was not well that day and others say it was because he was a orangeman.

The 2 players down the front in this pic Dowling & Clarke were on loan from Hibs when they played the Corinthians, Dowling guested for Celtic in lots of games.

Cheers for that TC.

In the NI match against Distillery, it says, McCallum and McCallum jun, so thought the two might be related.

Is off to have a nosey on the WIki for my keepers
