Found a reference to "the Celtic Footballer" in a cricket report. Hadn't heard of him before. http://www.thecelticwiki.com/page/Welford%2C+Jim Englishman Jim played in the Scottish Cup winning team of 1899, and died in Paisley in 1945. That is a great find S. If he's in Arkleston then he's lying close to Patsy Gallagher. He was part of a generation of big signings that Celtic made, mostly from England, to strengthen the team. Looks like he lived to a great age. Think Camillo has an interest in Celtic's cricket connections of which there are a fair few. |
