Hi, I'm new to the forum and found you on another Celtic forum while looking for any reference to Tommy Bonnar. He was my great grandfather. Apart from a picture with the team where he is named as trainer and a few family mentions I really dont have much information about his time at Celtic. Don't suppose anyone has any info? I have him staying in the area in the 1891 census and according to my mother, his grand daughter who is now in her eighties, when the team won the Scottish cup it spent the night under his bed! |

Hi Guys Ive just come across a mention to Tommy Bonnar in the Daily Record of December 1895. A reporter went to Celtic Park to see the team in training prior to the Charity Cup final against Queen's Park. The first person he meet was Bonnar the groundsman who commented " I've never saw men better trained for a cup tie than our boys, just look at them." He was then escorted into the pavilion were the boys were training under Tom McGuire. |

That's a great find also Ogam. Although titbits like these seem minor, as you've already seen with the material you've found already the help weave a much more detailed bigger picture of the club's earliest days. Fascinating stuff! |
