weeshamrock This was Barney's resting place back in 2008. Easy to see how quickly some bushes grow ffs! ![]() This was the first Celtic grave I went looking for. Barney was a real hero among the support in his day and I'd read in the Alphabet of the Celts that he was buried in Dalbeth (Section 3A, Lair 412) and that an incredible forty thousand Celtic supporters and others followed his cortege from Sacred Heart church in Bridgeton to the graveside. A simple headstone for a true hero on the football field. ![]()

I would say he was definitely regarded as such by the Celtic Support.

Just wondering if some things are missing from this thread. Thought we had more on Barney?

Note he moved to Hearts from playing in Linlithgow 'area'. A Junior Football search reveals that he played for : Linlithgow Athletic (not to be mixed up with Linlithgow Rose who were founded in 1889) to Bathgate Rovers to Broxburn to Bathgate (not Rovers) then Hearts. Edit: he must have been in his early-mid teens in his spells with the above sides. Edited by Glasgow Road, Feb 11 2011, 03:02 PM.
