No bother - btw according to his relative he was one of the 'founding fathers' - so maybe he should be shifted in there. |

HI Chuck, good luck For the sections on here, i put everyone mentioned by Maley in his book up till 1897 as a "founding father" I think we are going to have to have a think about this, as it doesn't really get it right all the time (like you say with Colgan) Also, I'd be really interested in having a subsection on players/founders of both Celtic and Belfast Celtic. What do you think? (I'd love to know more about Colgan's work with celtic) Edited by Dianogah, Feb 24 2011, 11:53 AM.

His daughter in law Kay will be joining me on Saturday so I will get as much info off her as I can - her husband isn't in the best of health at the minute, but lets see what we can turn up. She was adamant that he helped form the club as he was very close to the other Board members, and the fact he slipped onto the Board directly after O'Hara would suggest this is correct. He must have been well trusted. The Colgan's owned a Cattle transport company at Belfast docks as well - I don't know if that helps with your research. Up until about the 50's or 60's it was not uncommon to see cattle being driven from train stations through Belfast city centre to the docks. Oh and if you want to create a sub-section for Belfast Celtic graves, I'll be happy to add to it. I'm finding new stuff all the time. Edited by chuck, Feb 24 2011, 12:36 PM.

Just back from Friar's Bush - I'm going to say with a fair amount of certainty that it will be impossible to find his grave, the cemetary is in a shocking state of disrepair and parts of it look more like a dumping ground than a cemetary. Many of the gravestones are made from lime and sandstones, which were handy to Belfast, and the weather has just melted them away. I've taken a few photos to show you, will upload them on Monday. It's like Dalbeth with no records. Edited by chuck, Feb 26 2011, 04:17 PM.
