Stephen

thanks for this - wonder if it's the same man as the birth cert I found in 1908

if he was Jewish, what was he doing playing for St Aloysius, I wonder

I've never seen the name Solis in a Jewish context in Scotland, but nothing is certain until we prove otherwise

let me know how you get on at your end

Harvey

Here's a long-shot

Geronimo Solis born on 8 Sept 1908 then disappears from the records

Jerome Andrew Solis dies in 1974 in London, and his date of birth is given as 9 Sept 1909. But there's no trace of him before his death.

Geronimo = Jerome Andrew? Very similar date of births that could be mis-remembered? Same person?

Jerome is Geronimo (or, more often, Jeronimo) in Spanish and a very common name at that. Solis sounds Spanish as well (there are quite a few in the telephone directory) so there might actually be a Spanish connection there.
