According to The Herald archive Patsy died in Scotstoun, his funeral mass was at St. Pauls, Whiteinch and he is buried in Arkleston Cemetery which is off the M8 near Renfrew, have posted this on Carfin Harps thread on KDS too, hopefully some Tims from out that way may have info on his grave.

Will post his obituary from The Herald when I get the chance.

Bedtime, keep up the great work guys.

We have had confirmation of this on CM too. I suspect it has come possible from a family member who posts.

Great news bhoys! Another legend almost located. His last house in Lennox Ave, Scotstoun is still intact (ironically, it's not all that far from Willie Maley's old flat in Hyndland, which was on the market not long ago). Wonder if they went bevvying down Dumbarton Road when the mood took them . . . ;D

From CaltonBhoy67 on KDS:

Phoned today on this - They wouldn't give a section or lair number over the phone but did confirm Celtic's Patsy Gallacher is buried in Arkleston Cemetery.

Another is Bertie Thompson a famous winger of the 1930's who laid on many a goal for Jimmy McGrory - He is buried in Abbey Cemetery at Elderslie - He died young at 30 - His gravestone has the inscription "Bertie of Celtic".

Tremendous efforts!!!

Nice to see the photo's on the site for all to see. Pics were taken on phone so not the best of quality I'm afraid. If anyone wants to pay the grave a visit let me know, I can arange to pop down and show or give directions as the grave is only yards from the gate.

Typical Timmy, he spent his nights shining torches to lead in Fritz and the Luftwaffe.

Strangely, some of the newspaper reports at the time were quite understated. One journalist said, “Amidst a crowd of players, Patsy Gallacher scraped the ball over the line.”

Gallacher’s goal sparked Celtic into life and he was in the midst of everything good about the performance. He almost grabbed the lead for Celtic after another run saw him beat 3 defenders, but he couldn’t find the finish.

Celtic went ahead and sealed the cup when Thomson conceded a free kick. It was whipped into the box and met by the on rushing McGrory who headed the ball into the net to send the Celtic support into raptures.

At the final whistle it was Celtic 2 Dundee 1 and the Bhoys had set a new record of 11 Scottish Cup victories. This beat Queens Park’s previous record of 10.

There was no doubt who the Man of the Match was and I’ll leave the final word to a reporter who was there that day.

“I should say there never was a player who pulled his club through yesterday as Patsy Gallacher did. He was not physical power, but what a heart. He plays for the honour of his club.” :notworthy:

When I located the footage of the 1925 SC Final, the British Film Institute advised that it may not be possible to convert what they had into a viewable format but after a couple of weeks I got the thumbs up.

It was now down to what was on the 1 minute clip and I was told I would need to come to London to view it. I couldn't wait that long to find out if the goal was on it so I convinced this lass at the BFI that if the goal was on the clip it would make national news. She then agreed to view it for me and unfortunately as we know from the Celtic History DVD the goal was not on it

As a wee aside, the Dundee goal was scored by Davie McLean who was (based on available records), Celtic's youngest goalscorer back in 1907

Are the drawings from the 'The Will to Win' book by the Canning Brothers GR? That's a cracking book. They did a great job capturing some great Celtic moments.
