Thomas Walls - Master Bootmaker of Argyle St and Gallowgate is the father of Timothy Joseph Walls, and also my great great grandfather. TJ being the brother of my great gransfather John Thomas Walls.

Fantastic article about him leaving for South Africa - is it possible to have a link to it or reference which paper it was from? would be great to try and get a copy.

After South Africa he must have returned because he took the licence of his brothers pub in Queens St in 1900 whilst still the landlord of the Weaver's Inn which later became the Calton Bar London Road - His brother John was born at 8 Binnie Place, next to the Pub. He then went to Australia and New Zealand

Tried sending a picture of his grave to info@celticgraves.com if this is not correct can send again

From TC and PW's Dreams and Songs to sing...

"It no doubt came as a considerable relief to some members of the committee that Mr [Tim] Walls emigrated to South Africa five months later [than Dec 1894]"
I think what Tom and Pat was alluding to was the 1894 half-yearly meeting in which Tim Walls spoke out and was warned by committee man James Curtis "if he never shut up the matter would be settled there and then".

I cant be sure from memory but i think it was to do with the stand takings from the previous Scotland v England game when Walls questioned Curtis saying he had nothing to do with it so why should he have anything to do with the money.

Would need to read up on it again to make sure i have my facts right :hmmm:

Tim Walls parents, Joseph and Bridget came over around 1860 from Sligo. have not as yet been able to link them to any other Walls mentioned, other than possibly Mary (Walls) Darroch, although nothing certain or definite.

Hoping to visit the grave in Dunoon later this year - as it has been 30 years since the picture was taken.

Cheers
