OK, to recap

  • T Walls was on the commitee from 1891-1896
  • Hugh Darroch's wife was a widow called Mary Walls or Neeson, Walls being her original name. They married in St Andrews cathedral on 26th December 1888. Mary wall's (Hugh's wife) parents were a James walls (engine fitter) deceased and a Rose ann walls nee McBride deceasedMary was 30 in 1888, so dob is 1858
  • Mary Walls first marriage: 1877 NEESON THOMAS WALLS MARY BLYTHSWOOD GLASGOW CITY/LANARK644/0
  • Sarah Walls, the sister of Mary walls was born abt 1862 and lived in 17 Bank St in 1891
  • Looking into their past census, cannot find a relation call T Walls
  • The ball in 1894 was attended by a T J Walls and miss walls, and a Charlotte Walls
  • 3 Charlotte walls in Scotland, and 1 in glasgow (in 1891) And her dad and brother are called Thomas (61) and Timothy (28). Both bootmakers
  • Only Timothy walls to dis in Scotland 1 1912 WALLS TIMOTHY JOSEPH M 50 DUNOON /ARGYLL 510/01 So this guy was born in 1862. The Timothy in the family mention previously was born in 1963
  • Thomas Walls attended the funeral of Aug 21 1909 , John McLaughlin

So, yet to establish if the T walls is the father Thomas (61 in 1891), the son or Timothy J Walls (28 in 1862)

From TC and PW's Dreams and Songs to sing...

"It no doubt came as a considerable relief to some members of the committee that Mr [Tim] Walls emigrated to South Africa five months later [than Dec 1894]"

Great find. I think there is a right good story behind walls considering how many times he and relatives pop up in early articles on the club

So

T Walls was on the committee and went to south Africa

Above article says a Timothy J Walls (or his brother) was in south Africa

A T J walls attended the Celtic ball with a Charlotte Walls

In the 1871 census, Charlotte is living with her brother Timothy and brother Randolph (mentioned in the licensing article)

His Death certificate (page 2) has a date for 1912, so still matches

Never found a burial plot in dalbeth, but just realised he died in dunoon, so on the phone to the archives section at the council to try to see if he was buried somewhere there. They're going to phone me back

No death notice in the Herald, just a "thanks" message a few days later from his wife.
wife?

DC above says he was single

:sherlock:
Hahaha. Just seen this.

Went back and checked - I've 'assumed' again.

"Mrs Walls and Family return sincere thanks to all friends for their kind sympathy in their recent bereavement - Birkenshaw, Dunoon"
